This month I have spent some of my time working on this versal letter A. I have always enjoyed versals as part of the written word. Typography was one of my favorite classes. Versals have been used in manuscripts for years before the invention of printing presses. Today they are still used in print, although less frequently. We have gotten very concise in our language and in the presentation of our writing. Who really has the time to include a versal in their word document? Sometimes I make the time. Based on various lettering styles I design each versal one by one. I use them in the design of some of my specialty cards and plan to incorporate them into my collage work.
This letter was designed based on Roman Script that includes illustration. The blue skies and young vines of spring are what I hope to see soon!
